Attempt...

Before Covid, my opportunities for author visits to schools were quite common.
Once the shut down occurred, that ended abruptly.
My next school visit didn’t happen until last year around this time.
I was excited to get back out there.
I listened to speaker podcasts to brush up my assembly and implemented their ideas.
But it felt awkward.
I didn’t think the kids were listening.
The teachers looked mad.
I left feeling pretty low.
But someone must have enjoyed it, because I got a second attempt.
They invited me BACK!
I went today with a whole new interactive approach.
Mine.
Not a formula from a podcast.
Not a perfect presentation.
Just be being me - teaching what I love.
Character Club.
The kids created jingles, played games, and slayed those “be”verbs.
I had a blast, too.
So, when you feel like things aren’t going your way or you’re not doing your best, don’t quit.
Re-evaluate.
Sometimes we learn from our bad experiences even more than our good ones.
When did you get a second attempt or a do-over that turned out worth it?
