We had the pleasure of having an author visit with Allie Slocum. She was such a pleasure to work with - she really knew how to hold students captive! Her presentation was a perfect balance of inspiring readers, discussing the writing process, and connecting important life skills that students need to succeed. We loved our visit with Mrs. Slocum and are planning on having her back again!
Laura McKone - Kindergarten Teacher, Instructional Coach, GT Facilitator, NBCT - Ford Elementary
My students loved their visit with Allie Slocum! Her enthusiasm and ability to relate to kids generated excitement about being a reader and a writer. Her books provide a great lead in to discussions around honesty and integrity, and she engages the students in activities that support those important life lessons. The discussions and questions generated from her visit carry over into literacy instruction and community building. It was a valuable learning experience for all!
Kaylie Gonzales - Gifted and Talented Facilitator - Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary
Allie Slocum is not only a gifted writer, but she is also one of the most engaging authors we've ever had visit our school. Her presentation was interactive and academically beneficial for all students, especially in regards to character development. Allie Slocum certainly understands how to create books that all students can relate to and learn from in a world where the importance of having good character is often undermined.
