We all wish we could be this more sometimes, right?
I am a planner so it’s hard to change things up sometimes.
But today, I’m writing for the Five Minute Friday group where I have five minutes to write something on this word and then post it.
No edits or re-writes. That’s super spontaneous for me!
The time that comes to mind when I was most spontaneous was during the summer of Covid in 2020 when our vacation plans had been canceled and my youngest was sick with a mysterious stomach problem that went on all summer.
My oldest trudged on without complaint but I knew it was weighing on her.
So one Wednesday morning, I told her to bring an extra pair of clothes and we were going hiking.
We had a gorgeous hike up the back of Loveland Pass, a ski area about an hour away from us.
We summited by 9am and had the place to ourselves.
It felt like a scene from the Sound of Music (and we may or may not have started singing and spinning around like Maria von Trapp.)
We both refer back to that day as a great memory.
I wish our whole family could have been there but planning every summer since to get back has still not happened!
Sometimes it’s the not planning that makes things happen.
How about you? When’s the last time you tried something spontaneous and were pleasantly surprise by it?
STOP - 5 minutes ;)
