East - South - North - West?

During our final trip of the summer last week, I realized we had been to all four compass points of America.

Instead of just telling you though, I thought, “Let’s make a game of it.”

So here are four clues as to where I went if you want to play the Travel Game:

East: My home state and family vacation spot

South: The state we went to be extras for a tv show.

North: Our Covid 2020 redo trip.

West: Husband’s family cabin is in this state.

(Answers at the end.)

All of this traveling could have your head spinning and at times mine has been. Some mornings when I woke up in those moments before I would open my eyes, I would FORGET where I was! But why do we do this? What’s the point? Sometimes, getting out of our routine and seeing something new gives us a different perspective. Maybe it’s just enough to shake us out of our ho-hum daily grind and see things fresh.

Don’t set the alarm.

Explore a new trail.

Take pictures by a waterfall.

Experiment with various foods at new restaurants.

I love getting away but as the time to go home draws near, I start to think differently.

There is a sweet golden retriever puppy waiting at home.

There is the comfort of my own bed.

I get to check the garden for what new flowers have bloomed.

These things are all present when I’m home but they are all the more sweeter once I’ve been away.

So whether you traveled this summer or not, I encourage you to find a way to change up your routine and do something different to help you appreciate the regular things. How do you do break up your pattern?

Answers to the Travel Game:

East: We started in Pennsylvania and the New Jersey shore with my family.

South: We headed south to Texas to be extras on the Chosen (see June post).

North: We made up our 2020 trip to Montana.

West:  We saw my husband's family in California.
